Everything You Need to Know About U-Cut Lavender at Tumalo Lavender
There’s nothing quite like the scent of fresh lavender drifting through the summer air—and at Tumalo Lavender, you can harvest your very own bouquet straight from the field during our U-Cut season!
Whether you’re a local or visiting beautiful Central Oregon, U-Cut is a perfect way to slow down, reconnect with nature, and take home a little piece of the season. Here’s what to know before you come out to the farm.
When Is U-Cut Available?
U-Cut is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm, during the lavender blooming season—usually from late July through August but this year it is available mid-July through end of August. Lavender availability depends on the weather and bloom cycle, so we recommend coming earlier in the season for the best variety and freshest flowers.
U-Cut is offered while supplies last, and we’ll keep you updated on bloom conditions through Instagram and our website.
How It Works
Getting started is easy! Just follow these steps:
-
Check in at the farm store
Before heading out to the fields, stop in at our store to check in. We’ll provide clippers (please leave your own at home for plant safety) and guide you through the process if it’s your first time. -
Grab a bucket or basket
Pick up a container for gathering your lavender, then stroll through the fields to find your favorite blooms. Take your time—it’s part of the experience! -
Harvest with care
When cutting, be sure to snip 2-4 inches above the woody part of the plant—where the green stems begin. Cutting into the woody base can damage the plant and prevent future growth. If you’re unsure, we’re always happy to show you exactly where to cut. -
Bring your bouquets back to the store
Once you're finished, return to the shop and we’ll size and price your bouquets. You only pay for what you cut!
Tips for the Best U-Cut Experience

Wear a hat and sunscreen—it’s sunny in the fields!
-
Bring water and plan to stay a while.
-
Don’t forget your camera—our blooming fields are postcard-perfect.
-
Make it a day: bring a picnic, a book, and soak in the lavender views.
